Congratulations to New G-Man Jonathan Goff

We would like to give friend and fellow St. John's Prep grad Jonathan Goff a big congratulations on behalf of the entire Boston Sports Buzz crew. Jon was selected in the 5th round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the New York Giants with the 165th overall pick and as sad as it is for me to say this being a Pats fan, I will look forward to watching him play for the G-Men. Jon joins our friend and fellow North Andover native Zak DeOssie, who was the starting long-snapper in all 20 of the Giants' regular and postseason games last season. Hopefully Jon will be able to get some playing time right away as the G-Men currently sport a somewhat injury prone linebacker corps. Goff, who played QB and RB for the Prep while also starring in track and basketball, developed into a MLB at Vanderbilt after redshirting his freshman year. Always a man of few words, Jon will continue to let his playing speak for itself. When asked about his thoughts, Jon replied in his usual stoic and quiet manner to start "spreading the word because he is leaving today." We look forward to seeing Jon and Zak on the field during the pre-season meeting between the Patriots and Giants on August 28 and as Pats fans, we certainly hope to see the G-Men again in the big one in a Super Bowl XLII rematch next season. We wish Jon and Zak the best throughout the 2008-09 season and over the course of their respective careers.
